Mansion Restoration project

Due to the fire at Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park, both the park and the Visitor Center are closed, and restoration efforts have been halted.
Picture
Losing the mansion to arson is especially poignant as we eagerly anticipated the completion of a nearly year-long restoration that aimed to restore the mansion to its full Victorian glory. While the fire has prevented that vision from being realized, it does not diminish the extraordinary effort, care, and dedication of everyone involved in preserving the mansion’s legacy.

The restoration work on the historic mansion would have address critical exterior repairs and was to include but not be limited to:

  • Restoration of all exterior wood components, such as the second-floor balustrade railings, eaves, doors, windows, and other architectural components.
  • Installation of a new roof, including repair or replacement of gutters
  • Minor plaster siding repair and re-painting of the entire building exterior.
For more information about the restoration, please contact State Parks at (530) 895-6144 or go to the Bidwell Mansion SHP website.
