JUNE 2022 EDITION
Annual members meeting
We were pleased to be able to host our annual Members Meeting this year on Sunday, January 30. However, due to COVID, we were unable to host it in the hybrid in-person/online style we had hoped to and had to move the meeting completely to Zoom. We would like to thank the membership for their understanding for the last-minute change.
The meeting was called to order by President Adrienne Glatz. In the absence of Gloria Veith, she gave the treasurer’s report and thanked Gloria for being interim treasurer for 2021. She also thanked the three board members who are going off the board: Peggy Dudman, Bob Persons, and Gloria Veith.
New members to the board were elected and voted in: Nick Anderson, Steve Schoonover, and Mike Swann. Steve was also announced as the new board president.
We had announced that the Paradise Gold Nugget Museum would be our guest speaker, however, they were unable to join us as planned. We were happy to have Terri Lopez, State Parks Program Manager of Interpretation and Education for the Northern Buttes District join us. She gave an update on the virtual programs that Park guides have offered over the past year for teachers and students. They have also been working on other programs including a 3-year pilot program for 4th grade students to visit state parks for free, a State Parks pass that can be checked out at the public library, and the storywalk program. Terri also reported that BMSHP has been approved for a $2.5 million three-year restoration project. This exciting restoration will include a thorough inspection of the Mansion, removing and replacing roofing, replacing exterior damage, repairing urns and other decorative elements, as well as a new coat of paint. It is projected that the Mansion will be closed for about a year to carry out these projects. We’ll keep the membership updated on this project as new information and a project timeline are available.

Fond farewell—outgoing board members
We had three board members who stepped down from the board at the end of 2021.
Peggy Dudman: Peggy joined the board at the beginning of 2021. While she was with us for only a short time, she was consistent and helpful. Thank you Peggy, for all you have done during your time with us—your support and participation has been greatly appreciated.
Bob Persons: Bob has been a dedicated long-time member of the Board, having joined in 2012. His extensive law knowledge has been beyond helpful and his support invaluable. He has been a steadfast advocate for the Mansion and was part of the success of many of our events. Thank you Bob, for your leadership, expertise, and support.
Gloria Veith: Gloria has been a cornerstone member of the Board since 2009. In 2015, she started helping with maintaining the General’s Store with Kay Brandt, and has been doing all of the purchasing, organizing, and inventory since then, making the store the charming place that it is. Gloria could always be counted on to help in any capacity during BMA events and also stepped up to plate as our interim treasurer this past year, doing an amazing job. Thank you Gloria—we will miss your enthusiasm, kindness, and dedication.
Thank you all for your dedication and service as a member of the BMA Board.
